The Gathering was held at:
- PanGaea Sanctuary-
A beautiful Privately owned property in East Central Georgia near Augusta, Georgia. Go to http://pangaeasanctuary.org/
Merry Meet! This was one of the best and most magickal of all the Gatherings we have helped organize. We certainly celebrated and honored the Old Ways of Spirit and Nature.
The original and authentic Gathering of the Tribes held it's initial festival in the forests of Northwest Maryland in 1967. CLICK HERE TO SEE HISTORY The Gathering of the Tribes is not affiliated with or associated with any other festival using the name Gathering of the Tribes, whether held in the U.S. or a foreign country. We have held it in Georgia since 1971 in various locations: near Atlanta, near Athens, Georgia, then Unicoi State Park, and several other locations including Indian Springs State Park. Yes we know there is another festival which calls itself the Gathering of The Tribes which has plagerized much from our brochures and web site over the years. Yes we know they trash us at every chance they get, and even though they have sworn to destroy us, we are still here. They came to our Gathering in 1991, saw that we had drawn over 300 people, and decided to call theirs The Gathering of the Tribes, and tell people we were no longer having ours. Betsy, we are still here, why don't you quit acting like a child, quit lying to innocent pagans, and conduct yourself like a ethical person you purport to be.
Lady Boudicca

Comments about the 2007 Gathering
Bill,
Just a quick note to thank you for inviting me to the Gathering. It was so wonderful to be at the site that is both sacred and magical. Even the rain could not spoil the genuine gentleness of spirit that pervaded the weekend.
It was good to see Debra and Danny again and I would have loved to sit a chat with Debra.....
I eventually arrived home after much ado, thank you for coming to the rescue/ telephoning home. I hope all is going well for you. I have so many emails to respond to I will endeavour to find the Temple of the Mothers pilgrimage notes next week. If not I am sure you will remind me.
Love and Kindest thoughts

(Lord of Darkwood & Lady of PanGaea)
The 2007 Gathering of the Tribes is now
a part of history. There are many good positive memories from this weekend that we
shall carry with us for the rest of our lives. The many long hours of toil and sweat
over several months of preparations working to the point of physical and mental exhaustion
paid off. People came from all over and fell in love with PanGaea. and one certain
little Pomeranian it would seem.
Most came with cheerful smiles and a glow that warmed the essence of PanGaea. Some
who, perhaps, weren't so cheerful upon arrival, did finally relax once they were situated,
and they too added their positive energies to the gathering and to PanGaea.
A blanket of stars under the full moon at midnight was the perfect setting for a Blue Moon
Ritual. 24 people came together to celebrate the occasion and to honour the Old
Ones, and each shared in the Sacred Space at Fire Circle.
We made many new friends, and met again many old friends. I met a couple from
Virginia whose names, I'm ashamed to admit, I've forgotten. We shared a pleasant
conversation at the registration booth. There were also people from Iowa, Arizona,
California, Michigan, North Carolina, and all points in between. All came together
in Fellowship and Thanksgiving, to celebrate Life and each other, and everyone added their
own special magic to the mix. We enjoyed pleasant conversations with many, and
they've all touched us in a special way.
We enjoyed meeting and chatting, when we could, with the Special Guests: Maxine Sanders,
John Belham-Payne, Kenny Klein, and Xythos. It was a pleasure to finally meet Lady
Amethyst after hearing about her for so many years.
Lady Rhiannon, Lady Anu, and so many others with them (whose many names we couldn't
possibly remember!) from the Grove of the Sacred Oaks, have left their noticeable mark on
Darkwood as well as PanGaea. We look forward to
seeing this friendship blossom and grow.
Lady Wren, how could I not mention, and thank you and the "Herb Lady" for
lending your healing magic to our poor, wounded Azalea. We look forward to seeing
this friendship blossom and grow as well.
I am thankful for Lord Senthor, who brought music and laughter into Wolfden while the
storm raged outside and made quite a mess of things in the Meadow.
I could go on and on, but I shall close with a special thanks to Darkwood for all the
back-breaking work, blood, sweat, and tears during several months of hard work and
challenges. Our thanks to Bill, Ashley, Draco and the rest of the staff, who worked
so very hard to make it all come together. and a very special thanks to our dear friend
Hal.
Thank you all for sharing PanGaea with us. We look forward to the next time we can
do it all again!

Message from Laura:
Greetings everyone,
I was asked to share some of my photos from the Gathering, so I created an online album
for everyone to see. Pay special attention to the photos taken around the fire during
Friday's drum circle. In several of them, it appears that I captured something unusual in
the photos. Perhaps it is simply optical illusion created by the extended exposure
required to get a photo without using a flash. I don't mean to make more of what I see
than what is there, but I was personally stunned by several of the images. Even if it is
only optical illusion, I captured some interesting illusions! I am very curious to hear
what others see. I would love to hear back from you with your reactions to the photos. In
any case, I hope you enjoy them! Please let me know if there's anyone else who should be
sent information to access the photo album. Feel free to download a copy for your personal
use. The Google Photo site (Picasa) will also allow you to order prints of the photos if
you'd like. I only ask that you do not share them with anyone who was not in attendance,
in the interest of the privacy of those I photographed. And that you please get my
permission before you use the photos for any non-personal purpose. (In other words, these
photos are not for commercial use and should not be used on a Website, etc. without my
permission). Thanks for your understanding.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the
family of Darkwood, PanGaea Sanctuary, Dynion Mwyn and everyone who made the gathering
possible, as well as everyone who presented and participated in the event.
To Rhuddlwm:
It was truly incredible. I
experienced so much more during this, my second year. I believe the private location
made it more comfortable (no concern about being picketed or watched!), and PanGaea has a
lot of spirit(s) and warmth. I enjoyed it so much. I apologize that I didn't
get the opportunity to talk with you this year. But I enjoyed your workshop
session--all of the sessions were amazing! Thanks again. I look forward to
seeing the entire photo album when it is ready. It was a magical experience in a
welcoming and enchanted space. It was an honor to be in your company and a pleasure to
spend time with you. I learned so much and left with many treasured memories and new
friends.
Blessings,
Laura
From Lord Marak:
As I sit here pondering the weekend past, my heart is filled with joy, warmth and a sense of completion. 2006 brought about the beginnings of what would become Gathering of the Tribes 2007 at PanGaea Sanctuary. As I look back in awe, I wonder just how we were able to complete such a task. My Darkwood family began our journey in preparing the Land for the coming festival. Through the blood, sweat, tears and many obstacles we welcomed those arriving as early as Wednesday to our Home.
One after another, the people arrived. They came from many places such as Iowa, Michigan, Delaware, North Carolina and many other places. Their hearts were open for a wonderful weekend as I noticed the many smiles upon their faces. I thought to myself that my work was done and turned towards the house only to be called back into service. Campers, vendors, staff and speakers soon filled the Land and with that the chaos we all know as "The Gathering".
As the months of service in preparation for GOTT fell heavy upon my body and spirit, I asked myself this question...How could I retire to my home with all that energy vibrating around me? A smile formed upon my lips and the batteries that lie within my soul filled with that energy. Gathering my name tag and a walking stick, off to the campground I went.
It didnt take me long to meet some wonderful people and to rekindle some old friendships. As I journeyed in and out amongst the many folks gathered, the energy continued to fill my heart and soul. The Land was at peace and my home was once again opened to those that mattered.
I would like to thank the many, many folks that attended Gathering of the Tribes 2007. Thank you for your time and dedication to the Old Ways. Thank you for your steadfastness as the storm came and left.
I would also like to Thank the speakers, Maxine, John, Kenny, Lady Rhiannon, Wren, Lady Passion, Diuvei, Rhuddlwm Gawr, Xythos, Lady Amethyst, Eric Tyrsson, and Gina Estevez for taking the time to come and share their lives with Darkwood, PanGaea, and the many people who came. Special Thanks to Moonstruck and Lucidan for sharing their music. Steve, a special Thanks to you for Honoring Darkwoods home with your voice as the storm raged outside.
Lastly, I would like to Thank the Vendors who braved the heat, rain and dusty conditions so that we could gather those much needed supplies found in very rare places.
To my Family, Friends, and all who attended...Thank You again. I am already looking forward to 2008 and the preparations are already taking place.
With Love and Blessing,
Lord Marak of Darkwood

Special Guests Who Appeared

Maxine again appeared at the Gathering of the Tribes!!!
Maxine Sanders with her husband Alex Sanders were very important founders of Wicca in the 1960s.
Maxine was initiated into the Circle of Wicca in England in 1964 by the High Priest of that Coven - Alex Sanders, known throughout the world at that time as 'King of the Witches'. Maxine and Alex were Handfasted in 1965, and legally married in 1968.
The Sanders became household names during the sixties and seventies, almost single-handedly bringing Wicca, its practices and reality into the global consciousness.
Several of Maxine's pupils have become accomplished teachers of esoteric knowledge and work internationally. However, most follow the traditional path and pass on the Sacred Mysteries within the hidden Inner realms of the Temples of the Goddess. This includes Janet and Stewart Farrar authors of many famous books on Witchcraft. Maxine initiated Stewart Farrar on the 21 February 1970.
Today, Maxine practices the Art Magical and celebrates Craft rituals either in the mountains or in her stone cottage, Bron Afon. But, her vocation as a Priestess includes counseling those who are in need of kindness, truth and hope and is often approached by those in the Craft who are not too proud to test the strength of the shoulders of those who have gone before.
Let us honor this High Priestess who has given us so much and was responsible for Stewart and Janet Farrar and the many other craft authors and high priest/esses bringing Witchcraft and Wicca into the mainstream of consciousness.
John
Belham-Payne - The Last High Priest of Doreen Valiente
Born in Birmingham, England in 1952 - John Belham-Payne grew up in the industrial town of Dudley in the area of Midlands England, known as the "Black Country". John Belham-Payne had been a working musician since the age of 11 and became a professional drummer working with a number of 70's bands. He was a popular session player and has played on numerous records. His last working band was the post-punk outfit called The Piranhas who had two top twenty hits . A serious car accident in which John broke his back brought his days as a working musician to an end.
John was initiated into the craft by Patricia and John Edwards, traditional Welsh witches on Samhain 1973 at the age of 21. Moving to London shortly after, he worked solo for a number of years until he met Ralph and Audrey Harvey who run the Coven of Artemis in Brighton, England. John was then initiated into that coven.
John became Doreen's last high priest and she initiated John to 3rd degree. John and Julie nursed her around the clock during her short illness and was with her holding her hand when she passed into the Summerlands on September 1st 1999. In her Will she bequeathed to John Belham-Payne her famous collection of witchcraft artifacts, her extensive library, and the copyright on all her poetry and her research material. The collection includes many items that Gerald Gardner made for her, plus some of his ritual items, together with Gardner's original Last Book of Shadows and Doreen Valiente's Book of Shadows, thought by many to be witchcraft's most important document. She also requested John to perform her funeral service.
John was the long-standing committee member of the Pagan Federation and declined the role of President twice. He is the longest standing member of the National Conference team with the role of Compre.
Together with a travelling exhibition of the artifacts of Doreen Valiente, John Belham-Payne runs a series of lectures to raise funds for a suitable, permanent venue for a Study Centre and Museum so that the Doreen Valiente collection and library becomes available to those that seek knowledge. This will be his first U.S. appearance. He will give a talk about his teacher and HPS Doreen Valiente and her legacy, as well as Witch Wars.

Etidorhpa, a direct Initiate of Lady Gwen Thompson. She is also a Reiki Master,
Teacher, Healer, Author, advocate of religious rights, Mother, Partner and Business Owner.
Lady Rhiannon was raised by a family who helped to teach her the ways and wisdom
associated with nature based beliefs. Lady Rhiannon has an ancestry of Native
American and ancestral lines from the UK and other areas abroad. Due to her
biological lineage, following a Celtic path was natural for her.
Lady Rhiannon has been a guest speaker at local colleges in Michigan as well as
appearances on television and newspaper interviews in her area. She authored an
article entitled "Pagans Have Rights Too". She has been a spiritual leader
for inmates and an advocate between inmates and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. She
is registered Clergy with area hospitals and funeral homes. She has been offering
Clergy services in Michigan since 1996, where she has officiated at many Handfastings that

workshops and seminars on topics such as herbology, tarot and other divinatory techniques,
as well as different forms of energy healing including Reiki. She has also authored
and teaches a 15-week course of "Wiccae Basics"
Lady Rhiannon's first High Priestess was a Craft descendant of Lady Ishtar (Bonnie
Sherlock) and Lady Timothea. Rhiannon gives much gratitude to her first High
Priestess for pointing her in the direction of the path that has completely fulfilled her
spiritually. After many years of study and training Rhiannon was elevated to third
degree and given the blessing to begin teaching and building her own coven.
Six years after founding her first coven Lady Rhiannon met Lady Etidorhpa. Lady Etidorhpa taught and initiated Lady Rhiannon into the tradition of Lady Gwen Thompson. Lady Rhiannon's initiates are responsible for forming several Covens: the Coven of the Birch Moon, The Coven of the Celtic Myst, the Mystic Blade Coven, the Sacred Willow Coven, and Avalon Myst Coven. Lady Rhiannon also founded the Sacred Spirit Coven, which she leads today with her High Priest Lord Breeze. As of today the covens listed above make up the Grove of the Sacred Oaks.
Lady Etidorhpa was initiated in the early 1970's by Lady Gwen Thompson and her then, High Priest, during a visit with Lady Gwen at her home in North Haven, Connecticut.
Since Rhiannon's initiation into Gwen's tradition, Lady Rhiannon has spent much time with Lady Etidorhpa and her High Priest. Lady Etidorhpa has also made several trips to Michigan to spend time with the entire Grove.
All of the full members of the Grove of the Sacred Oaks have been initiated into Lady Gwen's tradition and most of them witnessed a special ritual that was preformed by Lady Etidorhpa designating Lady Rhiannon to carry on in her place. Lady Etidorhpa is no longer teaching or initiating new people, all inquiries are being sent to Lady Rhiannon.

Xythos -
Shamanism Tradition
Xythos began studying pagan and shamanic paths nearly 2 decades ago. As a child he had several direct experiences with phenomena that were beyond the scope of what "rational people" were able to explain. Without a person or group to teach him, he was left to mediate, explore and experience the spiritual world on his own. Eventually his studies brought him to Europe where he sought first hand contact with any surviving remnants of shamanic and pre-christian indigenous practices. His studies of European and American Paganism eventually led him to a study of mathematics and its link to European ritual traditions. He later earned a degree from Kennesaw State University in mathematics and has since begun to teach the subject.
During this time, Xythos has been a student and practitioner of the Wiccan faith. His reputation and knowledge have resulted in being consulted by a Missouri police department on Pagan and Wiccan ritual practices as well as having been a guest speaker on a TV program about paganism and indigenous faiths.
He sought to bring his experience to others by starting a Wiccan Church in Georgia where he both taught classes and held public ritual; however, he felt something was missing from the Wiccan religion. After a friend and guide began to instruct him in the use of the plant teachers he became aware of what was missing and what had been lost to time from the European traditions.
He began to incorporate Ayahuasca into Wiccan ceremonies and introduce others to the practice. Over the past 3 years he closed the traditional Wiccan coven in hopes of starting a new type of church that would work to bring back the Indigenous Spirit to Western Culture. During a full moon ritual, the name PaDeva was heard while he was seeking to determine the next path for the emerging idea. PaDeva has remained the name of the church since that night.
Lady Amethyst - The Order of the Garter - English Tradition
Lady Amethyst and Lord Taliesin live in Athens Georgia and represent the Order of the Royal Oak and Avalon Isle. They sponsor The Highlands of Tennessee Samhain Gathering every October. Lord Rhuddlwm and Lady Amethyst were originally co-directors of the Universal Pagan Federation when it was formed in the early 90s. Lady Amethyst is director of the Crisis Resource Center in Atlanta and has been heavily involved in Charitable works for the last twenty years.
Eric Tyrsson - Norse Tradition
Eric has been practicing Celtic based Wicca
since his introduction to it in 1987. He is a 3rd Degree within the ranks of the
Wicca and would go on to create his first coven in 1990. After a number of years his first
coven had numerous covens hive off from it, and by this time we have what most in the
Wicca faith would recognize as a tradition. He is also a 46 year old retired former member
of the U.S. Navy.
Eric started working with the Elder Futhark Norse runes as a method of
divination and magick in 1992. He felt a strange attachment to them, probably due to
the fact he has a lot of Germanic/Norse blood in his ancestry. He was self taught for the
first six years of his practice. But when he retired from the U.S. Navy in 1998 and moved
to Atlanta he was invited to join the then Atlanta based Knights' Of The Runes"
founded by Karl Hans Welz. After only a few short months of working with that group they
initiated him to their runemaster level (recognizing in part his previous six years of
self training & study). He underwent a number of initiatory rites over a period
of several nights and received his present initiatory ranking of Grand Runemaster in the
year 2000. He has also been using his skills with the runes via divination and has
developed a secondary career as a professional Rune psychic. Over the years he has
been interviewed by representatives of the various news media in both Georgia and North
Carolina.

AND OTHERS.
Musical groups and individuals presented an eclectic blend of modern and traditional Celtic music and much, much more!
MoonStruck
Lord Senthor and Moonstruck
helped coordinate the music for the Gathering of the Tribes 2007. Their participation
was much appreciated and greatly enjoyed!!! Lord Senthor's drum work is
amazing. He plays a mean voodoo rhythm which has to be experienced. When
Moonstruck started out playing music at Sabbats and different gatherings, there were very
few songs dedicated to the God and Goddess, Father Sun and Mother Earth and the Nature
Spirits. So they began writing and collecting songs. Their songs found a home in all earth
religions and many of them became classics. Visit their web page HERE.
Moonstruck's sound is more authentic than polished, deeply heartfelt and never formulaic. From their tuneful original compositions like "The Burning" and the title tracks, to the haunting chants derived from actual Pagan rituals, these albums provide an enjoyable glimpse into an alternative music scene that may possibly be new age's next big genre. From a Review in New Age Voice Magazine
Lucidan Musical Duo
Lucidan is a musical duet that performs a unique blend of Pagan,
Renaissance, and Celtic stylings. Lucidian features the talents of Lady Ishara on vocals
and percussion, and SkyDragon on vocals, mandolin, guitar, violin, and drum.
Their first CD, "For the Lady and Lord", is a collection of 13 traditional,
contemporary, and original Pagan Songs. Their new CD, "Soluna", explores new
musical horizons through the celebration of the Pagan Spirit in story and song. Soluna,
the fusion of Sol and Luna, represents the eternal dance and synergy of darkness and
light; the integration of Goddess and God within ourselves and the cycles of existence.
Lady Ishara is a Priestess-Hierophant of the Fellowship of Isis, and
founder of the Lyceum of the Sacred Spiral, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She has been a
practicing Pagan for 19 years.
