ORIGIN OF THE DYNION MWYN AND Y TYLWYTH TEG TRADITIONS - PART FIVE

The Next part of this story involves Ruth Wynn-Owen who used the name "Gwen" or "Gwenfran" who was described by Taliesin as his cousin.

According to Taliesin's journals Ruth Wynn-Owen was an actress in the 60's.  Taliesin described her as a  Druidess and Gwyddon and said she did not like the term "Wiccan".  He said she used the term 'Witch' or 'Gwyddon' to describe herself.

He said she claimed descent from Owen of Glyndwr and was involved with the House of Bran.  According to her you could only be part of the House by being Owen family by blood or marriage.

Taliesin mentions working with Ruth as one of the major "tidal" points of his life.  He describes her as a muse among muses and overlooked when it came to major influences on the craft.

Taliesin mentions Ruth twenty-six times in his journals from 1962 through 1975.  Most of the entries are in regards to meetings they had.   Some entries were those which discussed family matters but several involved documents which he gave Ruth and she gave him.  The journals described these documents as "...magical and ritual Vesteries."

Other entries were in regards to Bardic Teaching she attended with him, but it is not clear as to the nature of these teachings.  They were as follows: " (date) Ruth and I were at Bardic Teachings.  I gave her Gwlad yr Hav document."

Taliesin refers to Ruth as an initiated Gwyddon and says that her "tradition" was Welsh and connected in some way to his, although he never specifies how.  He does mention that she attended three "mountain rituals" with him and others, where she acted as his high priestess or (archofferiedes?).    But he never says in his journals that she was THE High Priestess.  His sister was acting High Priestess for some time.

Taliesin never explains how Ruth is related to him except to say that that she is his cousin; and why if she claims a descent from Owen of Glyndwr, why doesn't he do the same?

Others have attempted to identify Ruth Wynn-Owens, but we cannot prove who she was, only that she was a Major influence on the Way that Taliesin interpreted his Dynion Mwyn tradition.  As we discover more information about Ruth, we will place it here.
